August 18, 2006, Newsletter Issue #7: Bioidentical Hormones Important in Anti-Aging Health Plan

Tip of the Week

Part of an anti-aging health regimen would likely include hormone supplements. Because the body's hormones were in optimum balance in our younger years, restoring that balance can be therapeutic. It can result in the patient feeling and acting younger.

To achieve this, anti-aging physicians will prescribe bioidentical hormones. These hormones elicit the same response in the body as hormones it produced itself. They are structurally the same as hormones produced in the body and are not harmful to the body. It's important that bioidentical hormones be used to regain a hormone balance from younger years without exceeding it.

While hormones are not drugs, they are regulated and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Anti-aging doctors say that most symptoms of aging, including decrease in sex drive, insomnia, depression, weight gain and chronic pain can be alleviated through biodentical hormone supplements.
