One test for food allergies requires a little more effort on your part than the others. The elimination diet is often used when you're not sure which food you may be allergic to, or if your doctor suspects you may be allergic to multiple foods.
When you're on the elimination diet, you will eliminate all but the least allergenic foods from your diet. After one or two weeks, you will resume consuming the suspected foods, one at a time, while monitoring your reactions to them. This will help your doctor determine what you're allergic to.
Wondering which foods are acceptable for you to eat when you're on the elimination diet? Because you'll be avoiding many common foods like wheat, corn, rice, soy, eggs and nuts, you'll need to choose other foods you may not have considered before.
Tempt your taste buds with these options:
* Fresh produce
* Legumes
* Lean meats
* Poultry
* Seeds (pumpkin, sesame and sunflower)
* Whole grains like millet, buckwheat, quinoa and wild rice
